Thats a reach and blurring of lines. Kraftwerk is German based and a different genre of music(krautrock)than the well known household names being compared. Beatles/Stones

Kraftwerk is similar to V.U. in that they influenced many many musos.
In fact they influenced a whole genre music...DANCE music.
(not just (KRAUT) rock)
BUT many clubbers would not know who they are !
That is the comparison I was drawing......not such a reach.

Most people don't obsesss over details of what they enjoy. Go to any dance club, and most people on the dance floor can't tell you who the producer of the track they are hearing is, and maybe not even the singer. Not just in Jamaica, anywhere in the world.
Keith Hudson was definitely influential. His early work with DJs, dub, and the fact that was always open to trying new things in the studio has made him respected by those who follow the history of the music in detail.
But if you don't follow the history of the music in detail, why should you even know about him?
The Velvet Underground, for example, were a very influential pop group, but hardly a household name like The Beatles or The Rolling Stones. Think of Hudson as the Velvet Underground of JA.
You just happen to hanging around with a bunch of details-obsessed people on this board. But you should never mistake us as being "normal" or "typical". If we were, we would be too busy twittering :^)
like Kraftwerk

Hello, just to out-pedant you. "Affect" is a noun as well, but the original poster meant the word "effect".

Use affect in a Sentence
–verb (used with object)
1. to act on; produce an effect or change in: Cold weather affected the crops.
2. to impress the mind or move the feelings of: The music affected him deeply.
3. (of pain, disease, etc.) to attack or lay hold of.
i felt "number 2" was where i was going with using the word affect.
ok, now if jamaica doesn't care or know about keith hudson, who do they care about?

I dare say that most stuff Kraftwerk put out wasn't Krautrock at all but the beginning of electro/dance music.
Their early works might be considered Krautrock and though you'll find Kraftwerk records often in the "Krautrock"-crate, Krautrock is -in my opinion- german-made progressive-, psychedelic-, space- and hardrock of the 70s/80s.
Oh, someone mentioned allready in this thread that this is a spot for music nerds?
