I used to buy a lot of reggae lps and singles on ebay but over the last year or two noticed the prices going up and up sky high in fact. i watch quite a lot of auctions and so far the highest price i have sen was for an original copy of "No Exit"by Augustus pablo on the Gussie Clarke label went for £800!

Over the years I saw only 2 copies of Blackboard Jungle on ebay. Both were in bad condition, but still expensive. Never saw a real nice one.

This weekend a copy of Wailing Wailers went for 970 Dollars!!!
The seller claimed it to be a first press, but it was on the Studio One Rosette label, which should be a later pressing. It almost shocked me. Hopefully the buyer knows what he's doing.

First press is dark red studio 1 label with silver writing - I'll upload a picture when I get home this weekend.

Jordandance, I know this dark red label, and I regarded exactly this as the first press. Don't know if there are black/white labels, too, but the Rosette label can be no original. And for that the price is absolutely crazy.

The most expensive LP that my site has currently tracked is:

LAUREL AITKEN - Fire - DOCTOR BIRD 5012 LP Rocksteady at $1,598.13 USD.

Here's a link to all the records in descending order by price:
http://rootsvinylguide.com/all?sort=price&order=desc

Here's a link to all the LPs only in descending order by price:
http://rootsvinylguide.com/lps?sort=price&order=desc

(Please note that since sellers often miscategorize or undercategorize their auctions, that the LPs only section will not contain all the tracked LPs)
