This is what made me bring it up. A guy said he bought (online) a 'reissue' of the Carib Gems, Psalms For I w/ the pink cover.
I was telling him he may have struck gold because Carib Gems never reissued that. Not so sure anymore. Probably not an original pressing if it was seen in shops.
Kinda weird... couldn't find any official news on it. Are folks pirating 'reissues' now?

exactly, ron! I'd found that page, too.
It's what made me think that if he's got the Carib Gems *LP*... than it's an original... I'll get to the bottom of this after taking a look at it.

There are at least four and possibly five Carib Gems issues of "Psalms For I":
Blank label and blank sleeve
Sleeved copy with black Carib Gems label, matte sleeve printed by Excelsior Press.
Darker colour sleeve, Red Carib Gems label and Excelsior Press sleeve.
All the above use the same stampers with printed matrices.
Bright red sleeve, no Excelsior Press credit, white and red labels and hand scratched matrices. These copies came out in 1988 or 1989.
I've a feeling there may be a 1990s issue as well.

About 3 years ago I was looking to buy the "Psalms For I" on CD.
At that time I was buying a lot of CD`s from System Records.
They had 2 different versions of the CD, the Pressure Sounds release and also another one which had the original Carib Gems cover artwork.
I don`t know if was issued by Carib Gems but it definately was the original cover artwork.
I opted to buy the Pressure Sounds one because of the general good quality of their releases. I have not seen the other one anywhere else since which has always left me wondering if it was a bogus CD

I have "Psalms For-I" on Carib Gems CD - always thought it is som kind of pirate.
It was around before the Pressure Sounds one.
Back cover states Distributed by Carib Gems Ltd, 154 Rucklidge avenue, London N.W.10.
Number is CG CD 1002.
Also has "FOTOFON TRANS # KULT" on the back.
Sound quality is OK, not from vinyl.
Though I haven“t heard the Pressure Sounds version.

Click on "Recordings by Prince Far I"
Then "Psalms For-I"
Must admit I don't understand why the tracks are in reverse order (compared to the original) on both the Fotofon CD and on the Pressure Sounds issue.
Unless, of course, someone was working from the front cover and assumed the tracks were *coming out of the sea* as opposed to *going into the sea* (as there is no track listing on the back cover).
And why didn't Pressure Sounds correct this error?
Particularly as the original track running *works* much better.
