Duplication is a big problem in reggae. On many occasions I have unwittingly bought music that I already own because the song title has been changed. You end up owning the same track twice but with two different titles.

That happens far too often, especially with some of the more dubious CD releases.

^^^^^exactly, without a doubt.

similar to how well more than 50% of hip hop is james brown, roy ayers, cal tjader, donald byrd, lonnie liston smith etc. samples. i don't do hip hop/rap anymore quite obviously, jut stick to 70's funk soul jazz stuff when not collecting reggae. but i digress!

this i why i think on a larger scale hip hop and even reggae isn't more widely respected as an art form. everyone is recycling and re-releasing stuff which is not creation/art.
