What about this crazy number, can this be true? 200'000 Tunes / 40 years in the business = 5000 tunes a year = about 13 tunes a day...and they the toured so much, I just think that's impossible...
selling digital drum loops to producers and a lot of remixes can make exactly those 13 tunes a day. they dont have to play full instrumentals to get credit i often read sly dunbar as composer wen him only program the stick and bassdrum. so think it over and come again

I think 200,000 might even be conservative. In some cases, a single days work has resulted in hundreds of tracks and counting. I have a nephew who makes music (at least that's what he calls it) with some friends. None play any instruments; they just sample stuff and sell the results to DJs. In how many bedrooms in the world is this being repeated?

And right now, on some street corner in Jamaica there's a group of friends practising something they've written using a Sly & Robbie rhythm track. Who's to say there won't always be.

My favourites, off the top of my head:

Grace Jones' Private Life & Libertango
Jimmy Riley's Love & Devotion

But there's a lot of Black Uhuru, Culture, Wailing Souls etc. that I'd have to consider too.
