" ... W.I.R.L. had built a brand new two-track studio in late 1963 , constructed by Ronnie Nasralla , with equipment installed by Lutz Mayer . This studio ( named " A " ) soon turned to three- ( and by 1967 ) four-track equipment . A smaller studio ( " B " ) , which had existed prior to the construction of the new studio , was used for cutting purposes . After a fire in late 1968 , W.I.R.L. went into receivership and was purchased by Byron Lee . In May 1969 , Dynamic Sounds began operating at the same location . .... "

.. humbly taken from the liner notes of a Jamaican Gold CD ;)

Sorry to revive this old thread, but I was wondering which Jamaican Gold CD these notes came from. I put together this collection of photos from Jamaican studios ( http://www.pinterest.com/lordmihran/reggae-studios/ ) and am looking for details about Dynamics' relationship with MCI.

The Jamaican Gold Cd is " From The Dynamic Treasury - 16 Rocksteady , Pop 'n' Funk Hits -Vol.2 ". The tracks on the disc were recorded from 1967-1968 at " W.I.R.L Studios , 13 Bell Road , Kingston , Jamaica . "

( Had to hunt around to find this ! )

Please feel free to point out any mistakes! I try meticulously to ID all the photos I've uploaded but a good deal of material is re-posted from other Pinterest collections.

Trev is on the money with his analysis. Just to add that Simmer Down is ska. In fact the Skatalites backed quite a lot of the Wailing Wailers early material.
