Thanks guys. Whenever somebody lauds a particular song, I always do a search of my library and play the song. I've come across a lot of songs I've bypassed or never heard (massive collection like many others on here). My three cents:

Lacksley Castell's "Morning Glory" 12"(Sly & Robbie)
Al Campbell's "Jah Army" (7 or 12"?)
Cornell Campnbell: "Gun Court Law" (a bit more understated)

Black Uhuru, Live in New York City, song: Let us pray is a beautifull guitar solo in a layback reggae way with lots of echo

Roots Radics songs are good for groovy licks, "Caution" by Sowell Radics comes to mind as lead guitar having a big part, with the talkbox effect (i think thats it?)

You must have heard Peter Tosh's Rastafari Is and Johnny be Good, B Marley/Wailers Stir it up, to name a few tunes.
The Guitar solos are absolutely stunning and fit perfectly.

Mister Garvey from Social Living by Burning Spear has some tasty guitar licks.

I love lead guitar in reggae, but almost always hate it if it at all approaches a rock guitar solo style with overdrive and sustain. Yuck. I particularly like Ernest Ranglin's more jazzy playing on such tracks as I'll Be Waiting on Studio One. While there are some solos that sound good, mostly for me the distinction is between a 'lead' and a 'solo.' Lead is good, solo is bad (usually).

Who is the guitarist in Lacksley Castell's "Morning Glory."
That entire album has some great guitar playing.

Lead guitar is cool in reggae. As flashman said, Ernest Ranglin plays a nice style.
Rock guitar destroys a reggae tune. I love solos which underline the theme of the song, a little mellow in a lovers tune, cool and calm in a roots song for instance.

Once, we had a rock guitarist in our band as a guest for one session. He technically was perfect, a good player....but the style absolutely didn´t match a reggae style.
