Jordandance,

We may be "indirectly proving the allure of such items" but we are also getting a 'direct' chuckle at the combo of this song and it's fetching price.

In a way, if potential buyers of this record saw this thread, maybe they'd consider spending that money on a multitude of records --- basically something else than what seems to be a competition of dollars and $ound$. Uh, no they wont, it's a 'one off' --- and an average one at best ;-)

I'm still scratching my head on this one.

From my experience, the ones thaqt mock highly-priced tunes are the exact folks who could never afford such an item. It's like they're enamoured with some sort of fantasy land.

With all due respect Jordandance - I don't think mocking stuff like this has much to do with affording or not affording such an item, nor being enamored by such a record.

I just find it very funny that so much money is being spent on what appears to be a very average, at best, sounding record. Like I said before, it almost feels like a pissing contest more than anything.

But I will also say, even some of the records I desire the most - I don't think I'd pay that kind of money. It just seems like it would take a little bit of the joy out of it if I had to plunk down $500.00 to get it.

And sure, it's all subjective but I think it's wild that this single went for more money than Hopeton Lewis' 'Take it Easy' LP.

I agree with you, there's very few tunes I'd pay that much for, but I've done ut before and I wouldn't put it past me in the future. luckily i live in a city where i can find 5 copies of this tune just sittting there unbeknowst of the latest CDN+ digi frothy mouths.

As far as the pissing contest, i think it has more to do with in the monet gotta-have-it bidding (that eBay auction process induces) more than anything else. Pissing comes after the fact.

No record is (was ever or will ever be) worth THAT much money. Period!

Wrong. They're worth what people are willing to pay.
