Didn't read the whole thread, so forgive me if somebody has already mentioned "I've Got The Handle."
When I wake up in the morning, fix me some orange juice
When I come home in the evening girl put yourself to use
Cuz I've got the handle, baby, You've got the blade
Don't try and fight me girl, cuz you'll need first aid.
I find it pretty outrageous that the mellow feel of the song obscures such abusive lyrics. I mean, he's basically threatening to cut her if she doesn't perform her "wifely duties."

I was actually thinking of mentioning that here. I did a double-take when I first heard that song (then, I believe that I sniggered at the absurdity of the juxtaposition - which may actually have been Jacob Miller's intent, I dunno).
I know that some cultures consider it acceptable for a man to slap the wife/girlfriend around for being disobedient - but was there ever a time when boasting about it in song was considered 'cool'?
"Yeah, don't you little boys in record-listener-land wish that you could beat your wife as hard as I do?"
Eek.

I love The Heptones, but it just makes more sense to me when Hugh Mundell sings, "Rasta have the handle, Babylon them hold on on the blade."

"They say them love and them live in hate
Them say no steal and them thieve (like?) hell
Them say no lust and them live like a whore
Me never seen such a thing before"
Yabby You - Antichrist
I guess that we all know people like that.

Na, he never actually said that.
I was just extrapolating as to what proponents of 'wife beater's rock' might come out with, should the subgenre have caught on...
Heh, imagine Black Uhuru hitting the charts with "Where's My Freaking Dinner?"
