Kamikaze dub by Jammy, i find this one of the worst ive ever heard, and vastly overrated. Dull dubs, not very good quality. Enos McLeod and his Killer vol.2 has scratchy, hissing Pablo dubs maybe filched from old Pablo albums. Just poor, poor stuff.

i also like lots of Clocktower releases, they put out some good material but doesn't stop people critisizing him for breaking copyright laws etc. I know alot of people really don't like this guy from what i've read.

Sorry sean but i simply just cant understand why you think Kamikazi Dub is dull and overrated. I think it's a revolutionary dub album. But each to each own of course

Hi Sean

Just read your comments and, amusingly, I put Kamikazi Dub by Prince Jammy as my favourite dub album on another thread - Favorite Dub Album.

Totally agree with Jah Glu's comments. Thankfully, we don't all have the same taste.

Incidentally, I see your fave album is augustus pablo..eastman dub. I do love Pablo and do have King Tubby Meets..., East Of The River Nile, Africa Must Be Free...., and Earth's Rightful Ruler, but don't have the album you mention. I will definitely check it out to at least to see where you are coming from.

I did have the pleasure of seeing Pablo at the Astoria in London years ago. Awesome.

Hi Jah Glu

THE man. Absolutely brilliant. I just did an online search and am shocked to see that it was in 1986!!! I must 'fess up I can remember it as if it was yesterday.

Actually, I think I will start a 'Best Gig' thread as when I lived in Brighton there were some absolutely incredible artists appearing at was the Revolution and the Top Rank.

thanks for some excellent posts here.great topic.sadly of course Pablo is dead, dying of some dreadful wasting disease..not cancer..in 99.i never saw the man play.a very spiritual man, into peace and Rastafari i heard.Well Eastman dub is a totally unique dub, with unusually deep organ and synth notes at least thats what i think they are.and as for weak albums , well last night i wanted to listen to kamikazi but couldnt find it. if i find it, i,ll listen again. one bad , weak album is BIG SHIP ..dub by freddie mcgregor on VP records of USA. Some weak attempts at vocals that neither echo nor sound good, over tinny tunes.no sign of big ship in dub there, which makes it even worse i feel.mr fixit is thwere, in a weak , tinny dub..sean

Hi Sean

Yes, very sad that Pablo is no longer with us.

Just seen that you can get Let's Get Started by Te Track and Eastman Dub by Pablo as a twofer! I will definitely check that out.

Actually, my fave Pablo album is 'Africa Must Be Free by 1983 Dub - http://www.roots-archives.com/release/4454

I just love the 'feel' of that album. Won't be a many people's number one Pablo album, I realise.
