Heh heh heh generally I pride myself in being able to understand reggae lyrics, but this one......

sounds to me like something along the lines of

"the rich cat purr and the poor dog beg"

This is where knowing the slang of the day often comes in handy. Sounds like the mixing engineer drops out the vocal briefly after the "poof"

he says, "rich man boof, and the poor man peng". i know that because the JA press of the orig 45 was titled "Boof & Peng", not "Richman Laugh".

what that means, however, i haven't a clue!

i suspect it's along the same theme that one robert marley outlined in "mr chatter box"
