Hi Leggo Rocker

Presumably it means that vinyl you were initially talking about could be legit after all!

It could be, but I can't remember now what it was or even who it was that offered it to me. Oops!

Well, they say smoking too much ganga leads to short term memory loss...

I do like coloured vinyl though, but I've heard it doesn't wear as well as black wax.

As for the Blue version of Dangerous Dub, I also recently got offered it on Green vinyl but the guy was asking a bit more than I could afford at the time plus I already have it on black wax. Wish I had bought it now though...

Hi Leggo Rocker

I must admit I didn't buy them because they were coloured vinyl so I only paid £3.99 or whatever the cost was then.

"Rockers Vibration" definitely hasn't worn well. Particularly the last track on each side. Also, as it is clear vinyl, it's really difficult to select individual tracks.

Gotta love JC Clarke ..
I have 2 albums on vinyl (and CD,) Love in Disguise and Snap Crackle & Bop
(not colour, sadly)
and 2 compilations on CD the first one is brilliant,
but the latest one is poor sound quality mostly live but still funny,
He is still doing stuff..I would love to see him live ,
but little chance of that .....in Australia ......although the SLITS are coming here soon!

got a 60s Coxsone pressing of Wailers' Simmer Down... and there are others. Was more expensive to press and reserved for special series, that's why they are so rare.

"Outside the takeaway Saturday nite, a bored adolescent asked me out for a fight...."

Back in the day I did have the pleasure of seeing him a few times.

I saw the Slits supporting Subway Sect, Buzzcocks and The Clash - '78/79? Not sure. Sussex University. Mikey Dread on the mic.

Can't remember whether these were on the same bill as it was so long ago and I was going to 3 or 4 gigs a week at the time.

Hum, definitely saw them all at Sussex University, but not sure if it was the same gig! Could have been the White Riot Tour. I'll have to check.

I am sure someone will correct me. The perils of an age addled brain!

I saw the Clash supported by Richard Hell and the Voidoids (Marky Ramone on drums when he was Marc Bell) and the Lous (an all-female band I think) at the Kinema Ballroom Dunfermline in 1977 or 78 during the White Riot tour (again if memory serves which it usually doesn't). Highlight was White Man in the Hammersmith Palais and Joe Strummer telling the crowd to do him a favour and stop spitting, but Hell loved it. Seen JCC a couple of times at St Andrews and the Edinburgh Festival- enter the dragon, exit Johnny Clark.

Hi Jesco77

Actually maybe Richard Hell and the Voidoids were on the bill as I was standing next Johnny, Joey and Dee. So that would make sense if Marky was drumming.

Do remember The Clash being supported by Suicide at Crawley Leisure Centre. Suicide were beaten up on stage by, I think, the Cockney Reds. Jimmy Pursey had got into the habit of getting up on stage with The Clash to sing White Riot, I think. Again, I am sure someone will correct me somewhere along the line.

Kung Fu International is definitely my fave JCC track. I think it was the b-side to something and definitely a live version of it that I had.

I saw the Slits twice. First time they supported (I think) Sousxie and the Banshees. They were AWFUL, really bad even for a punk band. They simply couldn't play! Second time they were supporting (maybe) the Stranglers. This time they were MUCH more polished.

I saw JCC two or maybe three times. Once I am sure he was supporting Thin Lizzy who were absolutely rocking the house. But my memory, long or short term, is a little battered so my fact may be wrong. Most of the punk gigs I saw were in Portsmouth or Southampton. I wish I had seen as many reggae bands!

Talking of Spitting. I saw the Dictators live at Southampton supporting the STranglers. This time I know my facts are right as this was the first punk gig I ever attended and the first time I ever saw real punks in the flesh - including girls wearing french lingerie covered only by see-thru plastic raincoats. As a 17 year old boy I found this almost as entertaining as the act.

Anyway, back to the spitting. The lead singer of the Dictators din't like the gobbing (as a former punk lead singer I sympathise) and repeatedly asked for it to stop. In the end he called on the Stranglers 'security' - a bunch of Hells Angels and had them front the stage for the rest of the set. He then asked if anyone wanted to continue spitting.

The rest of his gig proceeded spit free!

I saw most of the punk acts live, and Bob Geldoff even twirled my hand-made F*ck Off T-shirt over his head after it was torn from my back during enthusiastic dancing and thrown on stage. Ah, fame...

At another Stranglers gig, a guy jumped up stage during an encore and Cornwell told the bouncers to leave him be. He joined in the singing! Seeing this myself and all my friends then jumped up and did the same. The band then exited stage and we finished the gig offusing their very own instruments!!! (along with about 50 other punks!) Very odd but such fun. Real Anarchy in the UK that night.

Hi Leggo Rocker

How about this gig at the Vortex - £0.60 to get in.
The Ants (as they were then known) supported by Souxsie and The Banshees, Screwdriver and Black Slate!! Yes, Black Slate.
