I have a massive soft spot for "More Gregory". Probably because I "test-drove" my first proper hi-fi with it in 1981 aged 21!

Good choice! Probably gave the system a good working out too.

That it did! ;-) Amazingly, I still had the speakers until I gave them to someone last year!

Extra Classic for me but closely followed by "The Sensational Gregory Isaacs"

http://www.roots-archives.com/release/2195

Which has extended cuts of Sun Shines For Me and Be Yourself (aka African Woman. The dubbed up cut of Be yourself is a stunner and is different and in my opinion better cut than the dub available on the African museum 10".

Regards

Rob

Gregory's Virgin stuff from the 70s is all great and issued/ re-issued in about a dozen different ways that should allow everyone to find a copy that has material that suits their tastes (i.e Once Ago, Soon Forward Selection, Mr, Love, etc.). The Virgin albums he made for the label in the late 70s are well-produced (unlike his early, early stuff) but still cutting edge and cultural.
Stuff on African Museum was also very nice.

No one has mention Gregory Isaacs meets Ronnie Davis.

Thats a classic album.

Not on vinyl but Trojan released a best of, entitled "The Cool Ruler", which is an absolute killer, Two discs & around 45 tunes. Its pretty definative, spanning twenty years it only leaves out a few classics ( such as "the Village" & "Roughneck") plus it has a 10" of "Night Nurse" which has one of the best dubs ever!
