First off, the whole White-Man thing is absurd ( and I'm not even white)!!! Money is green and thats that...I recently purchased TRADE ROOTS REGGAE from the previous owners and no doubt its been a struggle but its exciting to be part of something that isn't mainstream...As a member of the RASTAFARI community, TRADE ROOTS REGGAE has more to offer than just Muzik..Down here in SAN DIEGO, ROOTZ MUZIK runs things...Wackies, Pressure Sounds, JAH Guidance, Makasound---thats whats big...Am I supposed to pay for customs fees, taxes and all that mess? NO way..Ernies job is to take care of those needs and have a portion of those fees reflect in the final price..Ernies has helped INI @ Trade Roots more than I could ever explain..Yet, Id be a fool to just order from EB...I make it a point to contact the actual artists as much as I can---Live n Learn, I GRADE, VP, etc---I make sure my relations with these bredren is even so I can offer some exclusives that maybe EB might not have yet or might not even carry...I KNOW my muzik..So when I see an LP release such as The limited edition 10"'s that Martin Campbell puts out, I order enough so that if EB doesn't have them anymore, TRADE ROOTS REGGAE can have backstock..Remember, its LIFE..There is PRO's & CON's with everything..I strive to be PRO-gressive and KNOWledgeable about whats selling and try not to waste money on "bad" pressings or dead stock...TRADE ROOTS will survive and the LOCAL shops are a must for the integrity of the MUZIK!-------HOnour & Strength!

Hey Reuben it's good to know you post here. Congratulations on purchasing Trade Roots. One question: what happened to Eliot? Did he decide to retire from the business?

I've bought a decent amount from Ernie B's over the past 6 or 7 years and like the site a lot.
The service there is unbelievably fast and prices are great. Like any mail order shop, ernie B's does make mistakes. They have lost 2 money orders I sent and once sent me the wrong CD. They have always been good about fixing these problems and sent the items immediately (even letting me keep the extra CD). I won't order via money order anymore because of this, however.

No one can hold back change. Online selling of music might be harmful for a bunch of record shops, but they should update their service instead of fighting against it (a hopeless fight). Same goes for record companies fighting peer to peer downloads etc. The really clever companies will (and already do) change their way of selling music and of making profit out of it instead of fighting the unavoidable.
I've been ordering and buying from EB for several years now. All I can say is: I wish all online shops were like him, you can't beat his service (everything is in stock, shipping is usually fast, mistakes are quickly mended, the owner loves the music he sells, etc.).

Ernie - one thing I wood think could be a cool thing on the website is picture from the compagny and the staff. I always love to see the people I deal with, and when I travel I love to visit them.

EB again: The real price complaint should be made toward Best Buy, Walmart, Costco, Tower (to some extent), Circuit City and other big box stores for predatory pricing on big sellers. Like Bob Marley Legend for $9.99 on shelf when my cost from Universal was $12.06! It's actually not even legal to sell at below cost in an attempt to injure competition. This (plus downloading) are the 2 reasons why stores are going down. The other problem now is Amazon and other markerplaces...they have such low prices on CD's that stores can't compete...plus the fact that Amazon has so many used CD's.

so i guess with EB's recent price drop on recent Greensleeves reissues doesnt fall under this category????

ie, nicoD+toyan, lone ranger, barrington, wayne jarrett
for $5.99????
