I've seen the I Benjahman-album if I remember correctly. Listened to it and put it back since I didn't think it was so good. 200 SEK I think it cost (~£14) then.

The more people have a (free) opinion about a piece of music, the less obscure it is, i guess.
I've payed about 25 dutch guilder (~ 11 euro) in those days for the 12",
its worth gold to me now.
Import-lp's would go up to 42 d.g. (18 euro) in the end 70's begin 80's,
we had to think twice before buying those obscure objects. I was glad to do it with some.

Yes that is a rare one, I rate it too. We came super close to working a deal to have it reissued but it did not materialize. Other Nicodemus LPs that are obscure:
Nicodemus - Dancehall Style (Black Joy)
Nicodemus - Very Best Of (Serious Gold)
My favorite is Nuff Respect of Skengdon. I heard the guy who owned skengdon is now in JA running a big time construction company (I mean real big)..anyone heard that? I would love to see the Nico and the Super Cat Skengdon albums reissued.
Obscure Nicodemus 7"? How about Dog Is A Man's Best Friend on Shank I sheck riddim..
He's got a lot of music out there but it seems most of it was never pressed in good qty.

Well the man behind Skengdon is Skengman. There's a small write up on him and his label at reggaepedia;
http://reggaelicious.pbwiki.com/Skengdon
Would love to see much of the Skengdon material be reissued.
Were there any other clappers album you were hoping of reissuing? Because there still are a few excellent albums from Clappers that need a proper reissue. Thinking of the Yabby You album, the General Plough, the Jah Malla one and the Nicodemus. Then there's supposed to be an album by an artist called Ike Chama. Never seen it, heard it or know anyone that has. I'm thinking it never had been released properly.

I was too enthusiastic, *I Benjahman - Fraction Of Jah Action* is for sale on the net,
so it's not so obscure. Also heard some clips, the album is oké.

the guy behind CLAPPERS label is still around, he is interviewed in the booklet of the Soul Jazz records "Big Apple Rappin'" compilation...is that who you tried to work with, Ernie?
which is the Nicodemus LP w/ the picture of ganja on the cover? that one seems really rare...
yeah, Kenneth "Skengdon" Black runs Black's Brothers construction company in JA...i'm sure you can get in touch with him but i have a feeling if he was interested in dealing with music anymore he would be keeping his own titles in-press...

How about Singie Singie and Bobby Melody - Two Uprising Stars
http://www.roots-archives.com/release/2243
I like those Nicodemus albums, too. Scorpion Sting Me Granny is a nice tune.

Gonna follow up my own post about Singie Singie and Bobby Melody because I failed to mention anything about the album.
Good early dancehall rythms and the singing style is what you would expect from early 1980s sing jays. While Bobby's tunes are about the dance and love, 2 of 3 of Singie's tunes are roots. Good, but not really anything that grabs you. Get those Nicodemus albums instead.
Peace

The Nicodemus with Ganja on the cover is Vert Best Of on Serious Gold.
I think Skengdon has no interest in messing with music (I heard that from a friend who tried to license from him a few years ago).
We did not work directly with Clappers..I had a go-betweem trying to work it and I don't know who he was talking to.
I have 2 Nicodemus LPs coming soon, unreleased stuff from Channel One. Hold tight a few months.
Hitbound has yet another unreleased Nicodemus. She sent me a test press. Wow that was cool. I will ask them to press them sometime (don't hold your reath though).
I can't get enough of the Gunman Connection on 12" (Cha Cha). That song is so killer.
