my combination is :
technics 1200 for vinyl
technics mixer sh-mz 1200
Imic (my laptop doesn't have audio in)
some software to record music (I use musicmatch)
I convert vinyl into wav files (1411 kbps)
spend some time to set up the "audio in" volume and save the set up... then you'll always be able to control volume and set up equalizer on the mixer (fast and easy). I have to say I have a very good mixer (no noise at all!!!)and I guess it's the key for best sound quality
the nice thing is that I also have a pair of technics cd player sl dz 1200 (the ones that have the same controls as the vinyl deck from the same brand). so I really have the feel and the sound of vinyl even if I'm playing cd... but I don't have to worry about ruining records... I keep all the audio files from my vinyls on an external hard disk...
that's why when I buy a vinyl the first time I play it I always record it!
