reggae people need to be more humble about money... reggae music market carries on poor money... just check lone ranger and alton ellis when they're touring and you'll understand that even if you're a living legend you can't get rich with reggae. but some people still dream to earn money with it... record companies are the first and all reggae people are their hostages because most of them go on releasing or reissueing poor stuff instead of offering the best.MightyZ wrote:go easy on Lion and Leggo - it is not that they are supporters of the Babylon music system - you only need to read other posts by them to see this! I think they would just like to see artists being paid for their talents, just like anybody doing any job. That way musicians like myself could earn money from what they do best, not from trying to fit in some regular job!

this third world music is turning into "happy few" rich guys entertainement because of speculation from copyright owners, record companies and collectors. pirates were born from this situation... remember lee perry when he released the wailers stuff? well he did it while they were negociating the best deal... since bob marley, lots of people choose reggae hoping to make money and it's killing it.
oh yeah it's easy to say "babylon", "jah rastafari", or grow dreadlocks... but most of people lost the sense of this music that needs to be spread to survive instead of keeping it jealously from the masses.
a good start for all of us would be to consider ourselves as humble soldiers whose mission is to pass on the message.
PS: it wasn't my intention to offend lion, it's just that sometimes it can be useful to remember reggae is not only about artists getting their money and downpressing reggae people with laws that deprived us of our spiritual food.
REGGAE IS A MISSION NOT A COMPETITION
