were you ever athletic aside from gettin down?
Yes. Martial arts. Cycling. Swimming. And motorcycles (yes, they are more physical than people think and can be hard on the groin area!).

My problems started just after a period of intense cycling, riding several miles six days a week. I was the fittest I'd been since a very long time ago. I was also hauling heavy stuff around, because I was involved in a couple of house moves. And that's when it all started.

I'm vego too - always have been.

I don't know too much in-depth about diet and specific health problems, though my sympathies are with those who have them.

But more generally I share Leggo & MightyZ's opinions on the problems with the message we get from the health/diet powers that be - just to take one example, here in Oz the national government body for scientific research published a 'Total Wellbeing' diet book sponsored by the meat (and dairy) industries.

Oh, and on the topic of veg/eteri/anism and health & fitness, check out [Scott Jurek](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scott_Jurek), vegan ultramarathoner.

read back as far as you like. best to be informed about that injury as much as you can. like all things that are affecting your life, knowledge about it is key.

Found out an interesting fact whilst researching for my work the other day that is related to this topic.

One of the most famous footballers in the history of the English game is Sir Stanley Matthews, He played in top flight football from the age of 17 to the age of 50, making him the oldest player to appear in the English top division. He is also the oldest player to appear for England at 42.

He was vegetarian and teetotal

so yes i will be going back to veg soon.
but mighty z, i was mistaken on how much protein i need per day. 100 grams is a lot of protein, i am after 100 to about 130, maybe even 150 depending on activity level.
i still eat primarily vegan, 90% of all meals. when i go back to the right side i;ll be eating ovo-veg. eggs ok but no dairy. i don't mind eating eggs but not too much.
of course i eat brn rice a ton but too many beans can, well, cause some ibs-like issues in many people. hemp shakes oughtta take care of some of that, too bad it is so expensive.

Eggs are one of the most concentrated supplies of cholesterol if not the most.

If you make a bar chart to9 compare cholesterol in foods, you have to add two extra sheets of paper just to get eggs on it.

They are also loaded with toxins, chickens being the most polluted beast in the farming business. So make sure you get organic free range,

I have nothing against dairy, being a 'Hindu' it's an essential part of my religion - much like herb for rasta. But I have EVERYTHING against the treatment of cattle in the agri-business. So it's a tough situation for me. But I take it with prayers for the beasts.
