Hmm... there's an Inner Circle song "(Whatever happend to my garden of) black roses".
A sad tune about something being lost or so. I don't really know what it means, but I'm quite sure it has a different meaning than in the Dead Prez tune.
Here's a youtube link to the song:

Clearly from Dead Prez(Mind s*x)one can conclude it's referred to A Woman but not sure about Barrington Levi and Inner Circle's.

not everything in reggae is a veiled ganja reference!
Surely its obvious he's talking about his African Princess

I'm sure many people use the term black rose to refer to an african queen etc... pretty lady... but just going back to what i said about it being an area in Kingston, someone said it was the group of people or gang not a place which is interesting, but i can tell you that people do also refer to Black Roses as an area too not just referring to people, probably referring to that area of kingston of course, i have a TV show which interviews the residents of Black Roses! which i'm sure is arnett gardens Kingston 12 right.. i have a friend who lives there.

it's called Black Roses Corner, for the gang based out of that part of Arnett Gardens..... have heard of it also called as an area, but the spot is Lincoln Crescent and some other road that i can't think of there just north of the housing scheme.... might actually be Kgn. 13 there.

Thank you for sharing the lyrics! It's nice to think about the different meanings of the term Black Rose. For me it makes sense that the song is about a beautiful black woman. But it could definitely be also about the area. I would love to have real black roses. I like to order flowers from a [flower delivery from uk](
