I doubt..During the last 20 years most of those Jamaican stacks have been 'looted' by the Japanese..who bought them with hundred-thousands at once..And how do you think companies like Ernie B can sell 50000 or more singles every month......

I guess it would have been discovered much earlier...

I was told that some authentic ones had come to light in JA and would not rule this out at all.I would be interested to know what anyone who has bought one recently has to say-i dont think it would be too difficult to tell if they were right. There are plenty of apocryphal stories of boxes of records turning up unplayed.

The odds of it being funny business jump pretty good seeing as it's a 12 Tribes thing. They tend to bend their branch pretty low.

I have noticed the same with Triston Palma "Joker Lover", the album has been selling on ebay every week by New York sellers. Has this LP been re-issue?

MORAL OF THE STORY:

Record collecting is like the stock market. Never invest more than you are willing to lose.

If you get into reggae collecting music to make a financial profit, you will very likely be disappointed. But if you get into simply for the love of the music, you will be rewarded immensely.

If anyone paid $1,000 for that LP because they loved the music on it, they really won't care if it's reissued. They paid that much because they had the money, and it was worth that much to them at the time. If it's as an "investment", I shed no tears, and can only say "caveat emptor" (buyer beware).

you can doubt it all you want; the fact remains: people like ernie b find stuff in warehouses that "dont exist" with a fair bit of regularity.

X2 on what dave k says.

There is 70' shopstock around the world but not in Jamaica. Pretty sure about that one.

As far as I have been told, the LP was issued twice. Once in the 70s & once in the late 80s to early 90s. I have seen supposedly both. One has a smooth label face (original) & the other has a ring impression in the label (reissue). Not sure if this is 100% but it was from a good source.
