Im of the new generation and for me the term rub-a-dub applies to either early 80s dancehall or to a vocal style, an evolution of the 70s deejays in the early 80s thats were singing ina meldodic loop. Thus I guess that like many nowadays "words" caratcterising a style of reggae it had no sense at the time it was created.
