Dubmart wrote:There are at least four and possibly five Carib Gems issues of "Psalms For I":
Blank label and blank sleeve
Sleeved copy with black Carib Gems label, matte sleeve printed by Excelsior Press.
Darker colour sleeve, Red Carib Gems label and Excelsior Press sleeve.
All the above use the same stampers with printed matrices.
Bright red sleeve, no Excelsior Press credit, white and red labels and hand scratched matrices. These copies came out in 1988 or 1989.
I've a feeling there may be a 1990s issue as well.
Thanks, Dubmart. Seems the more I learn the more confusing it is...

One thing seems clear... it's not a '76 press.
re: Carib Gems CD for Psalms For I
This link that Ron posted showed Carib Gems doing a CD reissue in '94.

Finally checked out my friends copy of the Psalms For I which sparked this whole thread...
Definitely brand new but made to look exactly like the old ones as far as I could tell. Had the Excelsior Press written in the corner. Had a red Carib Gems label. same catalogue number: CGLP 1002. Looks like a replica or something.
I'm sure there is some small detail that was different but none that I noticed. This will cause massive confusion in 20 years or so.

Could be that remaining original stock was discovered. This happens a lot. You produce 10000 LPs, and have 1000 left that no one wants anymore, as new albums "take over". 20 years go buy and then you find out the remaining stock is mint and...wanted again!
