Well ... isms are various ideologies or what you want. Racism, feminism, sexism, existentialism etc etc. And skism is »schism«. So I guess it's a term that refers to that all different isms divide us.

In the 70's you smoked collie weed. In the early 80's, Indica and Kush started becoming popular strains.

I always thought it evolved from "Kush"....."pass me that Kush-something". I don't think it has anything to do with China. Jamaica is a fascinating breeding ground for new words.
