i dunno but Macka b did a 1983 release known as national dish,all about people and cultures and what people eat all over the world.

sorry to revive an old thread but sean pointed me to this thread so I thought I'd share my thoughts on the points that have been made.

I'm no Rasta, Hindu, Buddhist or Catholic. I'm an Atheist and don't believe in anything spiritual, however i follow what I believe in my heart and on this topic i choose to be Vegan.

I have argued many times with religious carnivores about how they justify eating meat and I have never had an answer that i can accept from them. As far as I know not murdering is up pretty high on what you can and cant do list.

I understand why someone who didn't care about the pain and suffering they caused would eat meat but i can't understand why spiritual people wouldn't care.

The way I see you live a "pure" life is by minimizing the pain and suffering that you are responsible for, going vegan is a pretty good way of doing this i think.

@leggo: You are Hindu right? What are your view and the orthodox Hindu on drinking cow's milk? I've often wondered this about Hindus but never had the chance to ask


@selecta bing This definitely sounds like tune Macka B would create, but i dont think i've heard it. Wha Me Eat is a song where he reels of loads of vegan food and there's another song where he says hello (or something) in loads of languages but i cant remember the name.

Something i forgot to mention.

When me and my friend were lucky enough to take a holiday in jamaica we had a very nice chat about veganism at some blokes stall while enjoyign some lovely tofu stew. He told us about rasta and ital and we were very impressed.

A few weeks after we got back from our trip a firend of mine showed me the video of No Bones, No Meat and they man we had spoken too was Ras Rody from the video, just my little claim to fame

I am disappointed to see the lack of Vegan foods in Jamaican restaurants in the UK, i live in Manchester and there are quite a few Jamaican restaurants/takeways not too far away from me but they lack much choice.

If anyone knows of any vegan/veggie jamaican restaurants in the UK i'd love to know of them.

Yes it would be nice to find a good Jamaican restaurant , there are many vegetarian Indian ones but i never see a veggie Jamaican place .
I think the thing is that Hindus dont see milk as being non vegetarian, they think its good for humans etc, and accordingly they drink it sometimes.
Many Hindus eat meat too, as you will know.
