i agree that "garvey's ghost" is dull beyond description...i believe it was actually not dubbed in Jamaica but rather europe by a guys who was trying to make it palatable to rock audiences...snoozeville...there's one example where the vocal album should just be listened to!

Agree. Garvey's Ghost is boring. Could have been so much better. For more Jamaican sounding mixes check the 7"s that came out on Fox of the "Marcus Garvey" tracks. Even though they're not really that interesting either, but it's better than Garvey's Ghost.
Like wise the dub version to "Same Song" LP by Israel Vibration. Could have been so much better;

Real bad music is hurting me, but I never heard a Dub album that could really hurt me. Of course some are mediocre and rather boring.
For example I bought these days "The Commandments Of Dub" by Jah Shaka. Very disappointing!
Never heard him before, so I gave it a try.
Any better records of him out there?

Thanks for the link, 6anbatte!
I read in this thread, that you feel the same about it. As other people do.
But maybe I will give him a try again with another record - siren free!

Yes, Shaka and his dull sirens, really awful. Commandments chapter 3 is wonderful dub , no sirens around.

Garvey's Ghost LP is on /WolfFox. Dub to Wa Da Da is on of the best dubs I've heard.

and yeah, the dub to Same Song could have been better if they portrayed more like a dub album rather than slipping them in the vocal LP sleeve!

Garvey's Ghost... dull ?! Well, ma friends, don't know what you call the best dub LP, then. To me, one of the worst dub Lp is Gold Mine. And all the Lps from the late 70's that were done in a rush to generate some cash. THIS is dull to me.

Yes just listened to Garveys ghost and the dubs are overall, good, wa da da excellent too. One thing you get incessantly on this board, is an expectation that certain cds, artists, or tracks, are "in",whilst others are "out".Take no notice, and all will be fine. Essentially its all a matter of opinion anyway.

Back then in 1978 I bought Goldmine Dub and found it disappointing. So I gave it away shortly after. Now I got it again and it isn't so bad in my opinion. I was surprised to realise it was arranged and produced by Jah Lloyd. And while it is definitely not as good as my other Jah Lloyd records, it is not bad enough to give it away for a second time again.
