It would have to depend on what era ou are talking about for me.
Basically the ROOTS RADICS from 1980 onwards. From the 70's probably the Revolutionaries and, I can't believe nobody has mentioned them, SOUL SYNDACITE. These guys are wicked. Then of course there are the Soul Defenders and Tommy McCooks Supersonics. But the Roots Radics is the only band that I can single out from any particular era. Always liked their work better than Sly & Robbie. Especially with Scientist at the Controls and Junjo producing. They made some of the most enduring versions of Dancehall staples. Right up there with the Studio 1 & Treasre Isle Originals. Now if it was the most influental band I'd definately say the Soul Defenders or whatever appelation Coxsone gave to the Studio 1 bands with Jckie Mittto & Leroy Sibbles because they CREATED THE STAPLE RIDDIMS.
