Robe619,

I would argue that there are 100 people that care, nurture, give, and inspire for every one person that is intolerant, hateful, or violent.
I am blessed to be surrounded by Christian co-workers and administrators who try to do the right thing even when it isn't easy and may not be the biggest pay-off for them. Too many times the rare fanatical, mentally unstable individuals get the limelight for doing something untoward to another in the name of their God. The truth is, belief in God has benefitted mankind far more than it has harmed it.
Yes, the corrupted hieracrchies of some churches have let near ultimate power corrupt them. Yes, many wrongs have been done in the name of God. these things have happened but are not what religion (or in my belief system, Christ) is all about.
Many wrongs have been done in the name of family honor, country, land, or even over women. Feuds fought, wars started. However, i think everyone understands that we shouldn't throw out the baby with the bathwater. i don't hear people crying for the death of the family unit (actually quite the opposite). It is the intentions of a man's heart and the actions he performs which arre either good or bad. Religion shouldn't be blamed for the actions of some just as families, countries, etc shouldn't. We are each accountable for what we do and how well we reflect the true tenets of our beliefs ( I know you are going to say each person's beliefs are subjective but I don't believe this is true, moral codes are well defined in most religions).

If you disect any religion or belief system you will find contradictions and similarities. It seems to me that if "God", "Jah", or "jehova" etc. wanted us all to blieve the same exact doctrine he would have appeared in some irrefutable form to all peoples of the world and laid it out clearly and concisely. But like any good parent, he allows us to find our own way while gently and sometimes not so gently guiding us down the general path of peace, love and oneness. The older and wiser one becomes the more one realizes that there is good and bad in everyone and every religion/belief system. We all(the good ones!) tend to gravitate towards the same basic principles and this seems right to me. Much respect to anyone increasing the level of love and understanding between us. IMHO Reggae music generally is a much needed positive force in this world where much positive is needed.

In the Bible Jesus always denied himself. He always gave praises to God, saying that the doctrine, his words, and works weren't his own; but that they were the Most High God's. So, Jesus basically was a perfect vessel for the Most High to manifest through. Remember Jesus spent a lot of time praying to the Most High. He referred to God as 'his God'. How can God have a God? Jesus always denied himself, giving the glory/credit for everything to the Almighty. Haile Selassie said that he himself was an instrument of the Most High. Remember that, according to Scriptures, to whom the WORD of God(which is God) comes to, God called 'gods'. So anyone who allows the Most High to move through them at all times is 'god' in flesh. Jesus always said that he came not to do his own will, but that he came to do the Most High's will.

One God, one aim, one destiny. For me God is nature no matter the name you give HIM. Nature you are nature you become...

I see rastafari as an attempt to get back to the centre of Christ's message, to rid the official christian doctrines of its oppressive deterioration. Rasta's can't accept Christ in the way he is portrayed, so they take the image of Haile Selassie. I think in reality they have adapted the message of christ, but he needs to be in another FORM. Anyway the form is not so important. The important thing is that the message of peace is preserved, wether it's through rasta, christianity, judaism, islam or buddhism.
