yes i . the i is just straight from america land .seen . the i just choose to talk in fake patois because me jus love reggae music . but when me seen a ras one day him just speak too fast . me couldnt hardly catch a thing . seen ?the i mean no disprespect . but i also feel its not my language. but as you see . languages are easily interchangable . there are classes in school for many languages . is patois capable of being a class in school one day ? only in jah righteous kingdom . where school isnt run by babylon . but my main reason for discussing this topic is my curiousity about how rastas feel when hearing a skinny irish kid give his best impression of something hes heard on his records . some whitey just wear dreads on them head . and are batty bwoy . me no love that . i and i have no dreads pon me head . but i and i dreader than dread . seen. i just love the music and the erb smoking . so as it was in those days so shall it be today . since creation the i just love music and erb . so i make the connection . but i and i dont know much about selassie I . i heard about jesus christ . but i dont know if i believe in any religion . though im sure sometimes we all try to talk to someone we cant see . but its obvious as the 80s came about reggae changed . sensi smoke was still there but many of the dj's and early rappers . speak of the culture which was not only rastafari but there surroundings. in conclusion ...im just a white guy who likes reggae .patois slang just comes out of my mouth sometimes i dont try.its just how i feel sometimes . i love to categorize my erb into bushweed , collie , lambsbread and sensi . im constantly on the search for albums with awesome covers and great sounds . theres not many things i like more than a chalice and playing my guitar or listening to tunes . i'd also like to say i also like many other types of music . but i just give much love to all real people of any color .

fabroots,

check it, so words dem wont be so confusing. jus to clean the air and pollution. coz everything aa cool breeze, if you want it to be.
when i write i spell how i seh it.
example:
yuh si whey mi a seh?
(trans: you see what me say or you see what i'm saying). in jamaican patois whey is what, but is prunounced is "whey".
so dun get vex when yuh can't understand. so all whey mi write is how i pronounce the words dem, so jus ax (ask) mi, an i'll tell yuh. no need fe write why yuh think mi write like dis an dat.

Im not vex papa pisces, and i dont want to ask you what i dont understand cause you will considere it more again as an "knowledge"...
Here its a forum about old reggae music, we all try to speak in english for understand each others, WHY use a patois when some strangers have already difficultys for understand english??
Imagine if you have to go in a french forum about french music and suddenly a guy talk in creole french, everytimes, and that you know that he is able to speak real french? What it mean? What is the point about that??
(i imagine me going in a french forum and speaking evrytimes my creole native language, the people will see me impolite and snob, its exactly how i see you when i know that you can speak true english, you can use some sleng in part, but you make an particular effort for make ALL words that you write in a different form, its ridicule dude...)
Well, i dont follow the discusion, i dont want to change your fun, i had just to give my point.

nuff respect. i see your point. thoughi feel more comfortable in writing in patois form, and i feel i can express myself better, in that form than in stright form english, but true,i do want people know exactly what i'm saying rather than guessing. when i first start, on this forum i thought most people on the most part were from either jamaica, or from the caribbean and new how to speak in patois.since th, i would think they know and understand the lyrical content of the music message of reggae that them listen to. as i didn't realize that most people are really international, mostly europe an US and other parts.
no problem, me feel no way, everything kriss.
fabroots, marcie. no hard feelings, right? jus as long as everything is copasetic.

This is interesting, as I'd been thinking the same thing. The snwmf board is especially prone to it. I described it to Mrs. Bugman, and her response was that it reminded her of blackface.

Jah Amos and Ras Andy?

I am glad ,finally someone who runns theese sights says something. Its plain and simple that some would rather be another culture then their own.Alot of people here have studied the patois dictionary i think cause they speak better patois then my jamaican friends.I loved sinead occonors lp for not picking up a fake accent,it would have ruined it imho.If patois is your natural dilect i have no problems ,if not your frontin and disrespecting your own heritage.Be proud of who you are and where your from !

Trackas used a good example citing Sinead lastest album being patois/accent free. If anyone is a culprit of fronting a patios style it is the pretentious one named STING!

i'd rather speak in a false jamaican accent than be a cocaine freebasing crackhead with a habit of ripping people off and never sending records to people that pay good money for them and posting fake record finds... sound familiar ?
