Re: Reggae Revival - Will it come big?

The folk/blues revival in the 60's came about because a group of people got together and formed the "Friends of Old Time Music" and then proceeded to track down as many of the artists as they could to play a number of gigs. The gigs were mainly around New York between 1961 and 1965.
It was assumed most of the artists were dead, but amazingly a large number weren't. Interestingly none of them were professional musicians. They traced Mississippi John Hurt farming and Roscoe Holcomb is anounced by the MC as working in construction.
At all of the gigs were well known/respected/current local musicians to ensure that there would be a good turn out.
Needless to say everyone was absolutely blown away by the "old-timeys".
The rest, as they say, is history.
Food for thought, perhaps.
Indidentally, 30 odd years after these gigs they have, literally, just been released on CD. This month to be precise.
Maybe not enough time has passed......yet.
