Pretty sure that Black Ark in Dub is (in part) bogus.
Correct me if I am wrong but the release IS a Lee Perry thing, and some of his best material. But it wasn't an authorised release.
Instead it was cut from stolen tapes, allegedly.
I have a copy where someone has actually written on the label "Tapes Stolen by Aisha Morrison" And scribbled out that name by the 'produced by:' and added "Lee Perry".
Whatever the source, this one is a great LP.

Hi chaps,
All the relevant info. about " Black Ark In Dub " is taken and gleaned from the Perry Bible " People Funny Boy " by David Katz ( what a read !!,the man needs a medal ).And ,as mentioned above," Super Scratch....".I use these to help me make informed decisions on my Perry purchases. On numerous occassions I bought so-called Perry releases, only to find, in hindsight, they were not actual bonafide products! This is not to knock any of this music,BUT do beware." Black Ark In Dub " was licenced from Pauline Morrison, most of the tracks were cut and produced at the Black Ark,but didn`t have Perry`s final mix touches, being over-dubbed elsewhere.
My house is in turmoil at the moment, the builders being " in ",but at a later date I will untangle the mystery that is "Black Ark...." !!!!!!!!

It seems Lee Perry, above all, is the target of the cynical use of his name to sell any old musical product, often stuff of dubious origin and quality. As in: "Stick Lee Perry on the cover, it'll help sell the record."

BLACK ARK IN DUB
CD: Lagoon
This collection is about 50% Black Ark dubs, 50% bogus. Dubious titles cast doubt on their validity eg) "Rasta Man" is a butchered version of "Open The Gate", "Loving" is a dub of George Faith's "Guide Line" with weirdo effects thrown in.

I always check this site before I'm going to buy something from scratch

Indeed, whatever happened to the making of this one it ended up with a fantastic result, even with its history it adds a lot more to it to me.
It clearly went through quite a few hands.. On the lp i have it does credit Aisha Morrison as producerand, also arranged by D Bryan, Recorded at Black Ark Studio.
I cant help but wonder what difference there is to the LP and the CD version of this, the lp being very hard to find and most likely pre dating the cd by quite some time.
Anyone able to name the tracks of the CD version of this album? certainly the LP front cover is very different from the cd version..
Bogus or not, partly or not, this is still the work of a genious.

Greetings,
'Black Ark in Dub' is an excellent title as well! The Megaton Dubs are much easier to come by, but 'Black Ark in Dub' is well worth it if you have the cash. I'd still probably suggest Megaton Dub II over it

.
