Probably when the wedding bells tolled! :D

BTW: I used to live in Bow, in Foxley House by the flyover.

Steppa and Rootsman,i grew up in Reading and spent many weekends at the after dark or Central Club which was soundclash Haven, spent a lot of time chasing clashes in the 80's,Peoples Club in Paddington,Hilltop in Harlesden,Moonshot in Deptford,4 Aces.

Roots dances ended long time ago,if you want to find some good roots vibes, make a trip to one of the reggae festivals in France,Italy or Germany this summer if you have never done this before prepare yourself for a positive culture shock.

Respect

Leggo,

I know that estate by Bow Church. L livedcround the corner in Devons Road.

You wouldn`t recognise it now. Its all changed.

Noine of that old fashioned community on the estates anymore where as kids playing on the square you would have the neighbours leavin the front door open and bringing out trays of cold drinks whilst you play.

Old that is a thing of the past and programmes like neighbours are so far removed rom what the real East End is all about.

Yeah Rootsman. I also went back recently to an old stamping ground of mine in London, Exmouth Market EC1 where I once had a flat. It was a community, we all knew each other in the street. Now it is all "oh daaaahling" cafe culture and loft conversions! In other words, it's fake!

I'm happy to live in a real community again, still int he East End, only now the it's the East End of Lincoln which is a bit like the old London East End 20 years ago!

Greetings from Leicester!

This city used to host some great roots dances up until the late 80's. Since then people have been using the roots name to get punters in but then dropping microwave dubs to please pilled up ravers who know nothing about roots.

Even man like Aba Shanti plays too much digital nowadays. I fear that the roots dance(especially featuring two sounds or more)is a thing of the past.

Ah well, I've got my memories.

Jah Bless.

Serios thing. Here every year we have very good bands from JA making their concerts and in the breaks the DJ will spin roots & culture. It has been a while with out a good roots party. The last one was the reunion of the Congos & the Skatalites, before that was Albert & the Gladiators in a plain field every one dancing and sitting in the grass. This was like late 90's.

Nowadays we stil have roots band with really good musicans but the reaction of the public is not the same. The reaggeton is takingover in the island. This is our digital latin dancehall.,.,ns

The roots sounds of today, dont seems to play with any punch and they keep playing that digital crap and it bores me to tears. I want to hear proper vocal tunes, a lot of the vocal tunes that they play are very poor.

I love my roots music but i cant take that digital noise in my head.

Its good to see Jungle Man,Quaker City,Fatman and a whole heap of old sounds coming back out- but pls dont start playing that digital noise.

I want to hear those rusty old dub plates that those big sounds have got.

Peace

When you mention the digital music you dont like,do you mean you dont like early digital/90s digi or modern digi which is almost steppers and becoming very dubstep.

If you were to hear, for example Little Kirks - Weed them out. Would you consider that digital noise? or would that be good to hear?; I play a lot of music out and have been playing mainly roots out at the dances at the moment.

I have a lot of 'early' digital stuff that people seem to love but im trying to spread roots message and get it more known atm
