to say bullshit, no thanks. Freedom of speech is not absolute in the USA nor in Europe and I'm happy with that.

Moreover, Carifest is NOT the USA and even more, Carifest is not a democracy, they fire who they want and I'm happy with that Eek-A-Mouse firing though a big fan of his music.

Anyway, I saw the video 2 days ago and it's amaaaaazing ! Gosh ! he's so ridiculous, I'm ashamed for him :D. What an idiot ! It's so funny !

Eek has a whole heap of attitude, which he is absolutely entitled to, and I wonder if the (cliche) hornets' nest he has stirred is not one worth stirring.

But I think the racial issue he has brought up - (or has he been pushed in that direction by unseen forces?) will backfire on him and anyone who chooses to go that way.

Look at the history of Jamaican music and check the names and faces of many of the some of the important producers, players and singers.

(Personally I ignore the whole Marley/Wailers thing purely because I have no love for the music they produced. Just a matter of taste.)

Leslie Kong, the various Chins, Horace Swaby aka Augustus Pablo, Graeme Goodall, even Byron Lee (the lord help me for bringing him up!) - there are many more.
Cedric Myton is a pale looking individual as is Fred Locks. Anyone questioning their credentials?

Nowadays not so many non-black enterpeneurs will venture into the JA music biz just because it is so dangerous and the climate generally is anti non black people. I may be wrong, but I see it as a necessary correction the perceived and actual humiliations of black Jamaicans for many years. Independence brought them nothing tangible so these days it is a matter of forceful assertion of dem blackness. Hopefully this kind of attitude will mellow in time and not crystalize into a sort of Zimbabwe situation.

It is worth noting that when things got bad in the 80s many middle class Jamaicans, black, white, yellow, purple etc. fled the country or sent their kids abroad to get away from the daily violence and social unrest.

It's all really ridiculous but points must be made and tempers must be expressed.

Bless them all. I love the Jamaican people for all they have done and do - one day they will live up to their national slogan!

And I will always love Wa Do Dem and the Mouse and the Man albums by Eek a Mouse.

lets have peace in the world
