I don't think a genuine reggae fan can ever hear too much of Jackie Mittoo's work.

Yes 6anbatte, when I look at the picture of all that vinyl I realise that I am a very sick man, I need help.

Is there a rehab centre for vinyl addicts?

;)

Lion:

I would like to 'upgrade' all my Mittoo to original press. Problem is:

1 x Mitto original press = 10 x Crucial 12inch 45s

However, I have just sold a property and hopefully if all goes smoothly I should have a few pounds to spend on reggae in the Spring. If that goes to plan, I will be shopping for Mitto Original pressings.

6anbatte:

This is the rehab centre? Oh dear, that's bad news because this place has fueled my habit big stylee!

Sometimes I fool myself into thinking my collection is almost nearing completion, and then I do a few front page refreshes and find 10 - 20 - 100 records that look so inviting! Aaaaargh!

When I play the front page artwork refresh game for too long I start to go mad with desire for the amazing amount of great vinyl out there that still eludes me.

Hi Leggo Rocker

You make that sound as if it's a bad thing! ;-)

Did you get the liner notes OK? Nice mention in there for Jackie's "menacing keyboard".

The Blood and Fire Jackie Mittoo CD *Champion in the Arena* is a well put together compilation that should not be overlooked, especially if you can get it at a knockdown price.

Go tthe liner notes 6anbatte, thanks. No time to read them yet as it hasn't been the smoothest of days!

Back home now, empty challice :(

but at least turntables are spinning a cool reggae vibe so time to relax.

Collecting records is a double edged sword.

On the positive there's the absolute pleasure of receiving new stuff, cleaning it pon me Moth RCM (which I find strangly meditational) and then spinning them pon the Sonys.

And the great feeling when I sit in my room looking at the wonderful library of sound I have somehow managed to put together in quite a short time.

I love to look at the labels and covers as I listen to them. I'm an artistic person (although not a musician sadly) so I really appreceate them. JA labels especially do it for me.

On the negative side there's the frustration of the higher and higher prices stopping me from getting stuff I really would like to have and listen to.

And there's the sinking feeling when I realise I am spending WAY more than I can afford. (Like a true addict I am selling anything I can get my hands on to feed the habit - although I haven't resorted to robbing and looting ... yet)

I'm not a rich man by UK standards, not at all. How I wish I could just buy what I wanted without worrying how I am subsequently going to manage to pay all my other bills!

Maybe I need to finish my novel and get it into the best seller list. Then i simply would NEVER get beaten in an eBay bid war again!

In balance it isn't such a bad habit, as unlike a drug addict, I can at least sell the stuff I've blown all my money on, because it sits here in my room, it hasn't gone up int he smoke of a crack pipe or something!

Given that today is his birthday, I guess we should all get out our Mittoo tracks and play them loud to celebrate this man's prodigious talent.

Would the RA massive mind if I declare today to be officially:

MITTOO DAY
