One of the Knowledge singers (I fail to recognise his name) has perhaps the most unique voice I have ever heard. It mightn't carry the tune most adequately, but it sure does carry the feeling subliminally, to say the least. That haunting voice just beams through the mix and gives me the chills each and every time. It isn't exactly bassy, but it certainly isn't falsetto either. I can only describe it as ethereal.
Good examples of this marvellous voice can be heard on tracks such as "Sentry", "Hail Dread" or "Population". Does anyone know of whom I'm talking about here? I sure would appreciate to know his name for certain. All the names are found in the liner notes of the Makasound collection, but there seems to be no way of identifying this one in particular.
A little help here, anyone?

I like the ska track 'Congo War' by Lord Brynner - because it's a contemporary treatment of a very serious African situation - despite the humour in the lyrics - the world at large in 1960 found the African names in the headlines baffling and exotic. It all ended in tragedy for Lumumba...
It is sad but it's exciting,
When I read the newspaper.
About what's happening
In the western province of Africa.
Everybody's fighting,
to get Matadi bay.
But it is amusing,
When I read all the bosses names.
Such as Kasavubu,
and Etienne Tshisekedi
Fighting to gain power over Katanga.
Colonel Mombutu
rivaling Tshombe
to be boss over the Congo.
My father made me to know
that my great great gandfather
Came from the Congo in the Western Province of Katanga.
But I can't remember his name,
because it was too long.
and if I called the name
I might have to bite my tounge.
All like Kasavubu
and Patrice Lumumba
Fighting to gain power over Katanga
Colonel Mobutu
and Justin Momboko
rivaling Tshombe to be boss over the Congo
Oh Congo baba wa mojique berele
are ba pas arev ah roquo de mole,
Mojique berele Congo,
eh uwah Kosu.

Rarely mentioned is Owen Grey, who has a poweful voice which reminds of soul-singers of the 60's.
Trojan has released an anthology with his works. Check it out!
