Tetrack "Let's get started" is also part of my few very dear items. It was offered to me by a friend I didn't know very well, actually it was the first time I met him and he loved reggae but didn't have many in his collection. And he told me "hey there's a band I love so much, they were produced by Augustus Pablo" and I cut his talking saying "the great Tetrack ! I love so much there album Let's get Started". And he was so amazed cause none of his friends until now knew this music that he offered to me his vynil (1989 repress), so spontaneously and so kindly. In return I offered him a Burning Spear album.
Actually, it was offered to me twice... First in cdr by a very nice moderator of the RA (he will recognize himself) and then by this friend of one night !
What a great sound and heartical lyrics : what would you pay for a smile, deep inside ?

i found this a couple years ago in my record shop travels, under some dusty boxes of doubles and store stock stuff.

I agree, the most important tunes to me are not necessarily the one's I paid most for, but those tunes that had me dancing around the room and signified a certain era in my collection 'arc'. such as
Now The Gate Fly - Lone Ranger
Zion Train - Linval Thompson
Money Generator - Karl Bryan
Dreader Dread - Johnny Clarke
Ball of Fire - Skatalites
moody Ska - Tommy McCook
Nicodemus - mother In Law...

I could go on, becuase luckily the list is a good long one...

Actually as others have mentioned, some of my favourite tunes were gifts,... one of the first and one of the best was a Nu Beat (Pama) label 'Stars' by Cornell Campbell, pure classic Studio One...

Bought my "Battle Of The DJ's Dancehall Style new in the proper cover back in the 80s. It has the same mislabling as yours and I always assumed that Coxsone had resurfaced some old Marley LPs.

Which tracklist do you have because one pressing had "Groovy Kind Of Love" by Johnny (Osbourne) & Jenny (Lara) as the last track while the correct one had "Moody Groove" by Prince Garthe. Coxsone probably told whoever was getting the master tapes together to put that Groovy record in and must have been horribly surprised to find Johnny & Jenny on the end of a Dancehall compilation which probably explains the hasty rehash.

I think I have caused confusion because when I submitted the album & cover to SEB years ago for this site I included both the alternate last tracks which is still showing on the site to this day. They should really be split as two separate pressings with slightly different tracklists.

what comes to mind now is one of my first reggae albums i bought which was a dub album entitled 'fatman presents twin spin vol 1'

one of my first moments to hear that real reggae sound i think i was around 16 at the time

so i was so happy to find the vocals of most dubs on 12" like johnny osbourne - fally ranking barry brown - it ago dread all classics memories memories
