Hey F/P,
Yes i do consider it wrong to download something if it is avalable elsewhere from a reputable dealer of music not these idiots that over price items on auction sites to see if some idiot with more money than brains will take the bait. But people who make thier living from music. Thats why its called industry mate where is the incentive for people to create music if some shit steals it and passes it on over the internet leaving the ceaters without a cent to rub together and then this in turn will put them off making any more music. How is that good for anyone answer me that.

Karl i second that, plus from a colectors point of view cdr's are worthless and normaly dont play well after so many years.

Hi Nick, I'm a reggae collector for almost 25 years and for me the most important part is to have the music files. No matter what format (vinyl, CD or CD-R) since these are only carriers. All of my music files are stored uncompressed (no mp3's!) on mirrored hard drives, so I can make as many as CD-R's for my own use as I would like.

Of course, there's another thing CD-R's don't have and that's the liner notes, booklets, rare pictures and so on. I agree this is one of the most important parts for many collectors, but as I said, for me the music rules.

The music creators rule, or at least they should do, lets all hope they get their fair dues for their work and creations..mind you that said copyright laws need looking into........specialy when a lot of the copyrights dont even belong to the original artists.

Which suggestions do you have?

Not sure if i have any,specialy when it comes to royalties as their are so many arguments as to who should get what...even the record companies have their role and need to get paid.its just a little strange that every time happy birthday is played on radio or tv someone is getting royalties for a song that was written over 100 years ago.
but i am sure if every one expects their music for free then all will suffer one day.
Not saying i never download but if i do and i like i will try and get the proper cd/record.

Thanks i know this is a hottly debate topic ,and not really debating the merits of d/l or not. One could in fact scan any cd jacket and reproduce it a 1000 x 1000 times. I do think music from good companies is always way to go.Cd or vinyl.
then you have crap vinyl companies ripping off music and reproducing it horribly on "respected" vinyl.and selling it.
trench town records comes to mind some nice comps they've assembled and cheap price but not worth it at all horrible reproductions no thought of any producing at all. Just a money grab.
