How could I have forgotten to mention possibly the most awesome reggae gig I have ever been to:

Prince Far I

supported by the Congos!!!

At the University College of London in 1981 (I think!)

Hey Leggo Rocker

We must have been seeing the same bands on the same tour, but at different venues.

When that tour (Madness, Specials...) went to Coventry (I was a college there) Madness didn't play as it was The Specials home town. Now that was awesome. I think The Beat were on the bill as well.
I am gradually making a list of gigs I have been to.
I did have a load of ticket stubs somewhere, but can't find them.

Hi Leggo Rocker

Pre '77/'78 gigs that I can remember in no particular order;
Gary Glitter
Jethro Tull
ELP
Camel
Rory Gallagher
Baker Gurvitz Army
Kraftwerk
Captain Beefheart
Curved Air
Caravan
Deep Purple (Tommy Bolin on guitar)
Rick Wakeman
Greenslade
Hawkwind
Wishbone Ash

Also The Great British Music Festival at Olympia. I don't remember anything about this other than Ronnie Lane's Slim Chance and, bizarrely, meeting some of my ex-class mates by chance from where I used to live. 3 years before I had moved from Hampshire to Sussex.
The only thing I can find out is that it was 1976 and Procol Harum appeared on the Thursday. I must have gone on the weekend.

We're way off topic now but seeing 6anbatte's list reminds me that the loudest act I ever heard was Uriah Heep at the Caley in Edinburgh- so lud it felt like they were actually playing inyour skull. They were supported by the Heavy Metal Kids, they featured that guy Gary Holton who was in Auf Weidersehen Pet. I have to say the whole experience probably put me off that sort of music and set me off towards reggae and soul...

Hi Jesco77

I thought I would end up with reggae gigs I've been to, which would bring it back onto track. The gig I was going to end with was Matumbi, which ties in with the fact they released an album on green vinyl!

I could add Aswad who I've seen a couple of times and released It's Not Our Wish on green vinyl, but I haven't been back up this thread to see if they've been mentioned already, in case anybody is checking. I should be working!!
