I presume you mean in libraries?
The books there are free only in the same way as records played on the radio are free.
really??? how come I can bring books home and read them when I want?
sorry but the way you and your friends are defending music business tends to be ridiculous...
is it because this site gets money from the music business?
if you really had that much respect for artists properties would you use leggo dub artwork for your "classic reggae radio station"?
me no fool
If you are no fool then how come you don't realise that the libraries have to pay for books out of municipal funds. Municipal funds come from taxes. We pay the taxes. SO effectively, we are buying the books, even the ones we don't read. And libraries, in the UK at least, used to loan records and tapes, and later CDs.
Me defend the music industry?
Read my lines again, like these ones:
"It would also be good if, instead of crying 'thief' all the time about piracy, they put their own house in order and made sure they actually PAID the artists money owed to them!"
And dig a bit deeper and you'll see my threads and posts criticizing the way record execs live a life of luxury and their offices are ivory towers etc etc.
As for the stupid jibe about Roots-Archives getting paid by the record label, say what? Are you serious? Of course it doesn't, not a penny, not a cent. The guys that set this brilliant resource up for people like us to enjoy - for free - have done it ALL at their own expense and you should be grateful for that and hold off with the insulting comments. You're way out of line.
So what is your idea of the economic model that will support the creation of music for worldwide distribution via free downloading and still being able to make the money to pay the artists, writer, publisher, studio and producer? I'd love to hear it, and I am sure so would the record industry who are scrabbling around for a way forward into this new future they face.
And you say: "I&I don't deal with capitalism" - You don't?
Then how are you making these posts? On a computer? Running Windoze probably, the product of the world's most successful capitalists. And I guess you never buy anything in a shop? You're not really making a lot of sense Oras.
The words 'false rasta' just entered my mind for some reason...
