Fun to see such an old topic I started! However the topic is a bit dated since UB40 is present on RA now, and wasn't when I posted this

I must admit i found ali campbell's singing voice rather hard to get used to at first. Their instrumentals like Wildcat and Dr.X are probably their best tracks.

You are correct about Gregory Isaacs. I was refer to his more lover's rock oreintated albums like 'night nurse' and 'the sensational gregory isaacs'.

funnily enough i only listened to ub40 for the first time two days ago! i listened to their first three albums in one sitting. I was hooked instantly however.
