Essentially, what you need is the Blood & Fire issue. And - if you're a serious fan and if you can find it - the original LP on Black Art with blue stripes on the cover. The original mix is not drastically different, but definitely different.

Here is just a little story behind it . it was one of two albums that were turned down by Island records in the 70's . Became one of the great records in reggae history , this is a must have for collectors.

What can I say?
A truly great album.
I got to know and love it in the mid eighties - I think it was on the Go Feet label. No idea how that issue is generally rated. Sounded fine to me. I got the B&F reissue when it came out. That's what I'm still loving to hear. I don't bother much with the 2nd disc though...

Let's not forget to big up Watty Burnett's excellent baritone contribution on much of the album and the other big names drafted in on backing vocals!

it's a great roots album, no matter if it's 1,2,3, 5000 mixes it's worth it for your collection alone.

just added surround sound to my bose and teac speakers. i played this super record (blood and fire version)3 or 4 times yesterday. fantastic. what a great recording.

hehe, yes ital k., this albvum is even better when blown through the right speakers...

it sounds alive. perry was a genius for sure, but this record reaches a higher heights, and its certainly down to the absolutely perfect vocals that IMO will never be matched again by anyone. if there is a better record tell me cos i must hear it love the congos
