Hi Leggo Rocker

Ow, ow, ouch!!!

Nice one regarding the Electra Glide! Do you then write an article about it? Is that part of the deal.

Just to make sure we are "on topic" I should be getting "Africa..." tomorrow.

The Electra Glide will require a story. In this case it will appear on a few websites but mainly it will be a 'fluff' PR article for the H-D PR dept. They will then foist that upon local papers and non-bike magazines that don't have any bike riding journos. I don't care, I get the bike for two weeks! Oh what a media tart I am...

On topic,, the Electra Glide has CD player. Therefore I will broadcast reggae music at maximum volume over the six speaker stereo system to the nation as I ride around. A chance to get my own back on all the chav boys with their booming Nova rap etc.

And I have the Greensleeves Africa... vocal and Dub CD to play on it.

But my favourite travelling music is Leggo Dub, which I have on the recent issue Hotpot CD.
Heh Heh.

Coming more from the mod/scooterist side of things I could tell you some tales of various trips down to England and Wales from Scotland on my old Vespa PX200 (long since replaced by a mega-fun Piaggio Typhoon 125), but as I never managed to combine trying to dodge other motorists on the M6 with listening to music that would be right off topic again...

Sorry, to possibly disappoint, but I have never owned a motorised 2 wheeled vehicle! Bicycles yes, but motor bikes or scooters no. That said, my brother is a biker and, more interestingly (?), I went to school with Graham Noyce.

Funily enough that's exactly what my brother always says!

Biking is mad, bad, dangerous - and real fun...

Harley's effect a gravitational pull on womens underwear that can't be equalled by the most exotic Sports cars. Believe me!

I've also done the scooter thing, but only on modern twist and Go's - the best of them being the crazy T-Max 500cc and mad mad Honda Silver Wing 600cc scooters. Imagine the face of the rep in his Vectra when you scoot past him at 90 mph on the M1!!!

Notice also how many reggae songs have bikes on the cover, or in the lyrics

Like Dillinger's CB200 (also happned to be my first proper motorcycle!)

Clancy Eccles, Freedom (BSA Starfire. I had a girlfriend who had this bike in 1977)

Culture - Baldhead Bridge , Sanachie release - Triumph Bonneville (the same girlfirend then had one of these!!!)

Also a Doc Alimantado cover has bikes on.

Maybe best of all is Johnnie Clarke's Reggae Rebel:

http://www.roots-archives.com/release/2279

(GS750 LTD?? maybe)

Y'see, bikes also got the imagination of many a rasta / reggae star.

Hmm, I think I feel a thread coming on here!

Leggo Rocker, there's a rumour that Gilera are bringing out an 850cc scooter this year, I'm planning to get a new one this year because I do a bit more travelling in my current job, do I save up for the Gilera... if my wife can waste umpteen quid on a VW Golf which is slower than my 125...

Just a few thoughts to brighten up a dull day.

Back on topic, heard a couple of great cuts on the Darker Shade of Black rhythm on 1 Xtra last night, Lukie D- Love Again and Mr Vegas- Lean With It Rock With It (Vegas sounding more like Tenor Saw than the man himself). Who says current reggae isn't all that.

Hi Leggo

I think we'll have to agree to disagree regarding JH!

Guys

Thankfully, I'm so totally drop-dead gorgeous I produce my own gravitational pull! ;-)

Hi Jesco77

I must admit I just can't get into current reggae. That is probably showing my own limitations as opposed to anything else. I will look into those tracks you mentioned though.

Jesco, that 850 V-twin engine was shown to me during a Piaggio factory visit back in 2001, it's been a long time coming.

Frankly, I'm still not convinced of Italian quality on this sort of stuff - style yes, but quality, hmm.

Having said that, Jap bikes are actually now virtually chinese bikes assembled in Japan - and even the assembly is moving to China. And I am certainly not convinced of Chinese quality!

Agreed, the Golf is such a waste of money. 50% for the motor, 50% for the badge. And they aren't even very on all accounts.

But if the Gilera has a CD or MP3 player, then I guess you'll have to buy it! Although, I think maybe the Suzuki Burgervan has a music system optionn?

Did '83 arrive yet 6anbatte?

And JH isn't good enough for me to stick up for him either!
