I study the environment and although i was a vegetarian long before this it has become quite clear that the only way to feed the number on this planet sustainably is through a vegetarian diet.
Reading through extinction numbers and declining numbers of species (although theres a biodiversity increase) just adds to the idea that eating meat seems wrong.
I dont scorn or look down upon meat eaters, i just believe differently, i hope to educate in a way which will allow others to make educated dicisions in this matter.

random: 99% of all species to of existed on earth are now extinct however biodiversity is now higher then ever before.

random: my father met Haile Selassie and was offered work with him

Ites!

Hey B! Yu talk bout eat flesh meant one step forward fi human race till "progress" an "evolution". I&I seh nuh. But even if it was thus an fi dat very reason nowadays must be judged as someting atavistic already. In addition, wat side of dis "progess" yu judge most relevant? nuclear weapons? pollution? genetic manipulation? cruelty? famine? vivisection?... maybe slavery? Coz ina same way some of dem tink dat slavery (do yu rememba when I&I Brothers were taken ina captivity fram AFRIKA?) or Native Tribes genocide also were significant steps.

Yeah Survy! I&I Hymn fram 2007: NUH BONEZ NUH BLOOD INA WI KITCHEN!

Bullit, cyan yu tell us more bout dat story by your fada an H.I.M.?

Titus.
My study is to hold the planet together, not pull it apart through anything like nuclear weapons or pollution, i study the earth to stop such things happening and try and plant more trees and save animal species from extinction.
I am not sure where you got the impression that i believe in progress in those forms but all i want to do is stop those things..

My dad used to work for the government in the UK before he became eco and quit to try become sustainable and live a different lifestyle. He helped create the the nuclear test ban treaty and worked in siesmology using maths and physics to detect earthquakes.
He was very important for the uk (and subsequently the US) this was in the period of 1970-1990 and within this time he was asked to work out earthquakes or possibly something else in Ethiopia, he didnt take the job though and stayed in the Uk to have a family.

I cant get into what he was offered to do as there is much he is not allowed to talk about and he never fully told me, i will see him in a few weeks and if possible, find out more about this story..

Im away till monday, replies will be a little slow to this thread.
