Yes, many moons ago i heard a very tedious Shaka set with sirens which ruined the whole thing . i think its vol 3 of commandments..its vol 3 of something anyway..that has tracks named lion roar, chains broken and the king. its very good

Ten Commandments of Dub vol 1 is the only Shaka I have due to being totally put off by the siren. I assumed (obviously incorrectly) the siren was part of his trademark sound.
What is THE classic Shaka album?

I can't really limit my preferences but a few titles: Original Living Dub v1 - Spear,
Scientist meets the Space Invaders,
Dub revolution - Various (on ROIR nice Uk '93 style),
30 years of dub music on the go - Tubby and friends (3 lp's on 2 cd's from Rhino but good ones Like King Of Dub),
Cry tuff Dub Encounter v1 - Prince FarI
Hope it gave you some ideas!

Hi 6andette,
Personally I wouldn`t say any Jah Shaka releases are classics. To my ears he is an aquired taste.
Like I said previously, I have the two Addis Ababa CD`s Meets Aswad and Meets Mad Professor.
They are good but not classic and I have to be in a certain frame of mind to listen to them.
Why not give one a try and see what you think, it might be to your tastes.

Yes! Start with 'African Dub Chapter 3' which, coincidentally, is one of my all-time favourites. Then Ch2, Then Ch1. 4 is ok. By Chapter 5 the dreaded digital began to creep in.
I wish I could have been a fly on the studio wall when they recorded Chapter 3...

I assume you`re talking about the Jah Shaka "Ten Commandments" Series as the "African Dub Chapters" were infact Joe Gibbs Productions.
These albums are completely different and much more to my liking.

Just dusted down my Ten Commandments Vol 1 and the music beneath the sirens is actually superb.
Are the other volumes definitely siren free?
