castell and mundell are definately 2 different peple. in a interview in the beat magazine of junior reid. he says that him, mundell and castell were good friends and all use to hang out in waterhouse, kingston 11 and would hang out and sing together. so that is probably why they share the same distinct style a vocals, during that same time period. reid also stated that, it was castell's Babylon World, which gave reid the extra push and motivated him towards being a singer, since his own neigborhood friend from the waterhouse district was able to make a type of career out of it. aside from jah fire LP, morning glory, and princess lady LP's, castell had shared credits with don calros, gold, ashanti waugh, and some other cats, i think even triston palma, as contributing to the harmony vocals to sugar minott's "black roots" LP 1979 (mango)

hope that helps. i do got more facts, but its running late, bout 4:47am to be exact, and i'm to tired to think and write.

jah guide,

pisces

It's generally thought I believe, that the upcoming Augustus Pablo box set will include the video of this Hugh Mundell performance on the bonus DVD. Will be great to be able to see footage of him after all this time.

This is what's on the DVD (details taken from the information that Lion provided on the other thread):

DISC FIVE: DVD VIDEO
1. Frozen Dub - Live Concert Performance
2. Rockers Rock - Live
Concert Performance
3.Acoustic performance with Hugh Mundell
4. Pablo Interview

I love this video.
When i first saw the video, it showed augustus strumming the guitar and the camera slowely panning left passed mundells lips, then back to frame just his face, thats when a teared up. shit is soulful as funk.

i can watch this video on repeat all day.

RIP
This Blessed Youth.

Having now received this I can confirm: it's the same song and the same version indeed. And it is of course, Hugh Mundell.

He also does another brief but very nice improvisation with Pablo on the video.

This discussion has gotten silly, arguing who is singing and who is pretending to be who. The fact of the matter is that it sounds like Hugh Mundell and it's under his name on youtube. Enjoy the song and move on with your lives

I didn't intend to prolong any argument Nigel, even though I was always certain it was Hugh Mundell.

The only point I was making here is that now, having received the box set today, I am stating what I have actually watched, not what I believed to be the case.

No clarification needed Chaz. I hope you're enjoying your box set. Most of us will never forget the first time we heard Hugh Mundell. God sometimes takes away those who are too special to keep for him/herself.
