I've always thought the name "Massive Dread" was one step heavier & tuffer.

the word is he died in prison in Kingston (i would guess either the Gen. Pen. in Rae Town or South Camp aka the Gun Court Prison) in 1996. there have been some "Elvis sightings" allegedly, but i think the popular consensus is he is well and truly dead.
there's never been much more detail other than that re: how he died - he either was poisoned, or "worked out too hard" and expired..... take your pick. Jamaican jail isn't a hard place to die in, consider Tivoli don Jim Brown - he "spontaneously combusted" at the South Camp prison in 1992.

According to some sources Jim 'Coke' Brown is not the same person as dj Jim Nastic.

the DJ Jim Brown allegedly did change his name to Jim Naustic so as not to be confused with the nickname of the slightly more infamous Lester Coke.
maybe not such a good career move to confuse fans, but definitely a good health insurance move.
