Just cleaned up a recent purchase:
Heart of the Congo - The Congos and Lee Perry - Black Art label.
The copy I am playing has the same matrix as this one, but the two colour version of the label (black with red logo).
[cover=4810,168]
It is the more stripped down mix, not the same as the later Go Feet mix.
It may be the same as the Congo Ashanty mix, I'll play that next to compare!
[cover=6290,168]

I think the Congo Ashanty version is the same as the Black Art mix. But the Black Art mix seems to have the cowbells much more to the front? The Congo Ashanty pressing also seems to have more surface noise, but this may just be a more worn copy than the Black Art I have which is in really nice shape.
Sadly, the Black Art copy is NOT the very sought after early pressing with the hand painted additions to the cover.
Any one have any info on these releases? I've seen a good discog on the LP somewhere, but can't remember where.

Just played:
Herb Dub - Jah Lloyd - Micron (JA)
I can't find this LP on Roots Archive! It is NOT this record:
[cover=3164,3027]
I followed that with:
Under Heavy Manners - Prince Far I - Joe GIbbs
I love this LP. Prince Far I's message is just as relevant today as it was back then - "Heavy Manners and Discipline, that's what the world needs today" - if not more so!
And the 'Big Fight' lyrics - "a left and wrong to the head of dreadlocks" - still make me smile after all these years!
[cover=4790,1850]
I have two copies of this, one with the green and gold label, the other with the blue red label. Both have the same DSR2914 matrices - not JG002 or JGML2914 as in R-A's listing. So perhaps the RA listing is oncorrect?
I always wondered what the story was with these labels. Is the blue red older than the yellow green? Or what?
Next I am going to play a bunch of so far unplayed (by me) 12 inch 45s trying to sort a set out for my next DJ set (13th Sep)
