I tell ya record prices are all over the shop these days! Barry Issac told me the last time i saw him that he is really struggling with all the different prices for 7s from different sources - far too confusing. Time was, 7s cost a set amount except for original old vinyl. Now, who knows?
As for Ernie Bs, sounds like a dangerous ploy if other distributors are doing it for less, even if EB has more or less a monopoly in the USA. Seller beware!
I know costs of vinyl pressing have gone up as sales have gone down, but there is a fine line to tread in order to keep customers.

I can't answer for Barry, but can't really compare anything to ebay prices for old reggae vinyl.
As a record dealer, i am always glad that he takes the trouble to bring lots of music to look through, especially these days when there are hardly any shops anywhere.

Well I got my copy in from France for £8.99. If I'd remembered about Honest John's I would have bought it off him. The info I got was that it was a limited edition release and only available from The record company shop in France. Ernie B's probally sees it as a matter of getting what you can. With prices like that, he can't be doing a roaring trade.

It's very simple, a EU/UK pressed record can't teleport itself across the ocean to Ernie B's for free thus the cost for EB to import certain records will have an impact on what price he then sells them for in his store. It's common sense really...And seeing how he doesn't charge more than what it would cost US residents to buy the record and pay for international shipping themselves I really can't understand who's supposed to be the victim in this case, clearly not the consumer...

You make a very valid point there. So the common sense thing to do would be to buy this tune from it's country of origin i.e. the UK, if available in this example. And not buy the import from France (like I did) or from the USA. Consumer choice...
