"Lava Ground" - I Wayne

Hey everybody,

Lava Ground by I Wayne is one of my favorite tunes ever. I think I get the message but I would like somebody to help me understand some of the words. These ones:

"gun dog and gun drankra dem sen threat" what is a gun dog? and a drankra?

"nuff a dem a look fi see I mogga down" mogga down? mogga means skinny, right? mogga down means falling down to the ground? like when a soldier is shot?

"I nuh weak heart, burn backative" backative?

"Heights ova all and neva fall" heights over all? heights is the color red like "ites, gold and green"?

"find piece a rope an go hang saul" hang saul?? what is 'saul'? could it be "hang so"?

To me, I wayne is talking about how the babylon system creates war and loves it because they love to see people kill eachother. the soldiers love it too (they deal with the rash) and "lava ground" is standing in a bloody battlefield.

Thank you in advance if you can help me understand and god bless you for having this knowledge. This song is a serious thing and I wish all my people could at least have the understand I have of it if they even ever hear it.

Just ease up a little, JLY. The guy has a query which is reasonable to ask on reggae forum even though it happens to fall a bit outside of the time span. No need for the negative attitude.

Imho, you're being disrespectful towards the artist.
Real Name: Clifford Taylor
Aliases and Variations: I Wayne, I-Wayne, I. Wayne or IWayne.

if man was coming on here asking about the lyrics of Elephant Man or Vybz Kartel i'd understand this kind of response

but I Wayne is a good artist and Lava Ground is a top LP...

modern roots music

Totally agree with you Living Bate - this wasn't some hard core dancehall lyric request.

Let us not turn love for roots to hate to anything else.

I come to this forum knowing what is it about, but I happen to enjoy all forms of Jamaican music, from Easy Snappin to some hardcore dancehall.

Let's stay focused, this is a roots 70-80 music forum, not a 90's onward hate forum

As Wiss would seh "cool & calm"
