First, congratulations again to Will for setting up ROOTS VINYL GUIDE. Fantastic tool.

Now, I noticed a funny price trend on above LP, as seen as most popular web auction site, and just wanted to share. I

1. May 2010: 448 USD
2. July 2010: 318 USD
3. October 2010: 202 USD
4. May 2011: 177 USD
5. June 2011: 111 USD
6. August 2011: 57 USD
7. September 2011: 58 USD

All are in similar condition, more or less (grading is not a science anyway). There are a few bumps here and there, but grosso modo, this is clear. My theory, based on simple supply & demand logic, is that the people looking for this LP are now overall fulfilled, with more people trying to part from this recording, Perhaps soon you can get it for 25 USD, i.e at a 5 % index vs. whoever bought it in May 2010!

I personally think this is a fantastic record, a bit over rated perhaps. But seeing that it pops up actually quite regularly in auction shows it is not that rare. A healthy amount muts have been issued, and anyone paying more than 100 USD lacks patience :) I'm one of them.

All the best

Feedback/seller's rep has a lot to do with final price, too. A variable no accessible though said popular auction site.

not sure whether these all relate to the same release

(1) the first issue on a red MAMBA UK label from 1975 (mine says on one label "pub 1974-75" and on the other label "pub 1975- 75") is not that easy to get in perfect condition

(2) re-released by ATRA in 1988 with different cover and ostensibly re-mixed by Sid Bucknor according to the sleeve notes - on this issue it says the original was 1974

needless to say the 2nd issue is easier to find....

I would say it's a trend thing. I remember a few years ago on sites like B&F that Keith Hudson and other artists were flavour of the month. Now it's all digi stuff people aee going crazy over. I bet Lacksley Castell shows a similar trend.

jayb, it is the MAMBA UK release I tracked. I agree wit yms, its a trend thing. What is hot now is indeed other stuff. So, to those looking to purchase the original MAMBA issue of that K. HUDSON LP, the target is now 49.99 USD :)
