Don't forget to listen to Bobby Bobylon, the Studio One album, a great soul roots classic.

Don´t forget the Heartbeat compilation "Zion Chant" where yu can find gems like "The Overseer", "Walls of Jericho", "Chant It Down", "Rastaman Camp" or the version of Little Roy´s "Jah Count On I".
Dis compilation is based in the albums "Mr. McGregor" and "Showcase" produced by Niney in 1979-1980. Seventeen tracks with Roots & Culture feeling but five lovers themes.

As mentioned I think Zion Chant for Niney would be a good start for solid McGregor material, and of course Bobby Babylon, both on CD

Good selection of Freddie on Napster - am I allowed to recommend them on here? Unfortunately they don't have the album I want - probably considered naff now, from 1987, "Freddie McGregor", but it has good memories for me ... anyone?

I've always loved Freddie McGregor's "Go Away Pretty Woman" from his "All In The Same Boat" Album.
Other personal favorites from him are:
* "Can't Get You Out Of My Mind" - Album: Across the Border
* "Rootsman Skanking" and "Stop Loving You" - Album: Big Ship
* And he actually did a reggae cover of The Police's "Rehumanize Yourself" in the "Reggatta Mondata" reggae tribute album to the band. It's an interesting listen actually.
But like I said, those are personal favorites. From such a brilliant artist as he is, I'm pretty sure you'll find a handful more tracks that you'll love from him once you begin to sample more of his works. Have fun and keep the good vibes flowing!
Cool Runnings!!!

Thanks for all the responses, I really like the Zion chant album respect. One other question is "push comes to shove" and original cut by Mcgregor or it was originally done by somebody else.
respect to roots and culture.
